Instructional Analyst

Our hybrid approach allows you to work alongside your colleagues in our vibrant Boston office at 501 Boylston Street for at least two designated days per week, with the flexibility to work remotely on others. We seek an Instructional Analyst to support work to collaborate with internal teams, state agencies, data submitters, and researchers to innovate and improve CHIA’s data products, ensuring they are of the highest quality, accessible, and actionable.
As an Instructional Analyst at CHIA, you will have the opportunity to:
Drive Effective Documentation & Technical Writing:
- Assist in developing clear, accurate, and user-friendly documentation that enables data users to understand and use CHIA data products and analytic platforms such as Tableau, Power BI, Snowflake, and Flexible Analytics.
- Write, format, edit, review, and proofread procedural and technical content for both technical and non-technical audiences. Artifacts may include:
- Data dictionaries and data element guides
- User guides, instructional materials, and other multimedia resources
- Data quality profiles and considerations
- Work with the Manager of User Experience and Manager of Data Strategy and Client Insights to identify and address gaps in product knowledge.
Enhance Instructional Design & Learning Enablement:
- Assist the Manager of User Experience and the Manager of Data Strategy and Client Insights with identifying gaps in product knowledge and learning needs.
- Help to develop and maintain learning materials that enable successful use of requested data, including:
- User guides and job aids
- Training modules and curricula
- Video tutorials and other multimedia resources
- Create engaging and effective learning experiences for a diverse data user community, including CHIA business units, health systems, hospitals, insurers, researchers, and other stakeholders.
- Leverage strong communication and facilitation skills to elicit user needs and translate them into actionable learning solutions.
- Translate complex technical information into accessible materials for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Champion Data Integrity: Assume a pivotal role in advancing comprehensive practices in documentation and data management and quality assurance. Your meticulous attention to detail and unwavering commitment to accuracy will play a crucial part in upholding the integrity of our data and analyses.
Here are the important qualifications we are looking for:
- Proven Technical Writer: Experience in instructional design or technical writing for analytics, software development, engineering, or related domains. Demonstrate experience creating documentation and procedure manuals for varied audiences, including the ability to refine content and develop visuals.
- Tech-Driven Professional: Possess advanced familiarity with data visualization and business intelligence tools, such as Tableau or Power BI, providing a crucial advantage in conveying complex data comprehensibly. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is essential for seamless communication and reporting.
- Effective Data Governance and Healthcare Data Domain Experience: Brings valuable exposure to healthcare data, including claims and eligibility datasets, along with experience supporting data governance practices, quality standards, and policies that promote data confidentiality and data integrity.
- Effective Communication: Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to articulate complex technical issues clearly and persuasively. Engage stakeholders and foster collaboration through compelling communication.

- Educational Foundation: Possess a bachelor’s degree in instructional design, communication, computer science, information technology, or related field.
- Specialized Expertise: Bring at least three years of experience in instructional design or technical writing and editing for data analytics, software development, engineering, computer science, or related industry.

Minimum Entrance Requirements:
Applicants must have at least (A) one (1) year of full-time or equivalent part-time, professional, or practical experience in information technology applications development or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
Substitution:
I. An Associates degree or higher in a related field may be substituted for the required experience.
